چکیده

A detailed theoretical investigation of polarization effects in superdeformed nuclei is performed. In the pure harmonic oscillator potential it is shown that when one particle (or hole) with the mass single-particle quadrupole moment qν is added to a superdeformed core, the change of the electric quadrupole moment can be parameterized as qeff = e(bqν + a), and analytical expressions are derived for the two parameters, a and b. Simple numerical expressions for qeff (qν) are obtained in the more realistic modified oscillator model. It is also shown that quadrupole moments of nuclei with up to 10 particles removed from the superdeformed core of 152Dy can be well described by simply subtracting effective quadrupole moments of the active single-particle states from the quadrupole moment of the core. Tools are given for estimating the quadrupole moment for possible configurations in the superdeformed A ∼ 150-region. PACS: 21.60.-n, 21.10.Re, 21.10.Ky

Shell Effects on Rotational Damping in Superdeformed Nuclei

Damping of collective rotational motion in A ∼ 190 and A ∼ 150 superdeformed nuclei is studied by means of the cranked shell model with two-body residual force. Numerical calculations predict that in a typical A ∼ 190 superdeformed nucleus, Hg, the rotational damping width is significantly small, Γrot ∼ 30 keV, and that the number of superdeformed bands in the off-yrast region amounts up to 150...

We discuss damping of the collective rotational motion in A ∼ 150 superdeformed nuclei by means of a shell model combining the cranked Nilsson mean-filed and the surface-delta two-body residual force. It is shown that, because of the shell structure associated with the superdeformed mean-field, onset energy of the rotational damping becomes Ex ∼ 2 − 3 MeV above yrast line, which is much higher ...

How to measure the spreading width for the decay of superdeformed nuclei.

A new expression for the branching ratio for the decay via the E1 process in the normal-deformed band of superdeformed nuclei is given within a simple two-level model. Using this expression, the spreading or tunneling width gamma (downward arrow) for superdeformed decay can be expressed entirely in terms of experimentally known quantities. We show how to determine the tunneling matrix element V...

v 1 2 1 A ug 1 99 5 Description of superdeformed nuclei in the interacting boson model

The interacting boson model is extended to describe the spectroscopy of superdeformed bands. Microscopic structure of the model in the second minimum is discussed and superdeformed bosons are introduced as the new building blocks. Solutions of a quadrupole Hamiltonian are implemented through the 1/N expansion method. Effects of the quadrupole parameters on dynamic moment of inertia and electric...
